Worried wives of Members of Parliament (MPs) are preparing to petition President John Mahama to heed calls by their husbands for them to be provided with security.
MPs reignited their calls for protection following the stabbing to death of their colleague, Joseph Boakye Danquah-Adu at his home in Shiashie in Accra.
The MP for Akyem Swedru, Kennedy Osei Nyarko threatened that the legislators would boycott parliament until their call was heeded by the leadership of the House.
And this call, the wife of Akan Constituency MP, Madam Elisabeth Dankwa speaking on Adom FM’s Morning Show ‘Dwaso Nsem’ on Wednesday said, was in order as the legislators have lately become the targets of miscreants in society.
According to her, she has in pursuance of the calls, decided to rally together wives of other MPs to petition the President, John Mahama to order that the MPs be provided with security.
“I have started calling other MPs wives and we would in one accord go to President Mahama and tell him to listen to what our husbands are saying…it is very important that they are provided with security…,” she said.
