President John Dramani Mahama’s
remark in March, 2015 over industrial actions in Ghana while on an
official visit to Botswana has made it into BBC’s Africa’s best quotes
of 2015.
The remark by President Mahama generated
lots of discussions in Ghana with many condemning him for failure to
empathise with the agitating Ghanaians. Others still commended for being
frank with the situation.
“I have seen more demonstrations and
strikes in my first two years,” he told Ghanaians in Gaborone. “I don't
think it can get worse. It is said that when you kill a goat and you
frighten it with a knife, it doesn't fear the knife because it is dead
already. I have a dead-goat syndrome.”
Another Ghanaian, Anas Aremeyaw Anas,
also made it into the best quotes of Africa from his interview with the
BBC over his judicial exposé.
