Former Newcastle Goalkeeper Pavel Srcnicek dies

Pavel Srnicek of Portsmouth signals to a team mate
Former Newcastle United goalkeeper Pavel Srnicek has passed away at the age of 47, reported BBC Sport.
The former Czech Republic international suffered a cardiac arrest nine days ago while out jogging, and was taken to a hospital in Ostrava before being placed in an induced coma in the aftermath. Sadly, Srnicek failed to recover and the decision was taken to switch off his life support machine in hospital. He passed away on Tuesday afternoon.

He was immensely popular with Newcastle supporters and will also be fondly remembered for his spells with Sheffield Wednesday, Portsmouth and West Ham. Srnicek made 49 international appearances and was a familiar face of Kevin Keegan's Magpies side that went so close to winning the Premier League title in 1996.
Srnicek initially signed for Newcastle in 1991 and stayed through until 1998, before returning for a short spell in the 2006/07 season.
His agent, Steve Wraith, confirmed the news in a statement: "It is with deep sadness that I have to announce the passing of former Newcastle United player Pavel Srnicek."
Srnicek recently released a biography named Pavel Is A Geordie and the title of the book is now circulating as a Twitter trend as fans pay tribute to a well-respected and much loved footballer of the Premier League's past.
