Martial and Pochettino Win September's Player and Manager of the Month Awards

Manchester United striker Anthony Martial has been named the Premier League's Player of the Month for September, after making an immediate impression on the club following his summer move from Monaco.

The 19-year-old Frenchman is joined by Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino in receiving a monthly award, as Pochettino was named Manager of the Month for guiding his side to three straight victories over Sunderland, Crystal Palace and Manchester City.

Martial has taken like a duck to water to the Premier League since his £36m move from Ligue 1, fitting in straight away at Old Trafford despite his young age. Martial came on to score an astonishing goal against Liverpool on his debut and then supplemented that showing with two goals in the club's 3-2 win at Southampton soon after.

But while Martial has impressed with his goalscoring exploits, he has also earned praise for the way he has physically dealt with opponents in his first few games.
Martial was even complimented by former United defender Gary Neville on Sky Sports last month, as the pundit said: "The big criticism of United over this last 12 months has been playing in front of teams and playing safe. He, I think, quickens the game up. He takes a risk, he's on the shoulder and he threatens in behind.

"He also looks really strong as well. That wasn't something I recognised about him watching him for Monaco last season."

Pochettino meanwhile has won the second Manager of the Month award of his Tottenham career after he managed to guide his side to a 100% record in the Premier League over the course of the month. Spurs fell to defeat in the League Cup to Arsenal, but have remained undefeated in the league since the opening day of the season.

Spurs face Liverpool in the early kick off of this weekend's action, while Martial and United visit Everton.
