Kevin De Bruyne scored a late winner against Sevilla as Manchester City came from behind to win another Champions League group game at the last minute. Their clash against the La Liga side was a game they needed to win ahead of trip to Spain to come in the competition, and they had their £50 million man to thank for a late victory they scarcely deserved.
Manchester City started slowly against their Spanish opposition, and found themselves under pressure from the off. Minutes into the game, the visitors forced a corner, and from there they asserted themselves on the Sky Blues. Half-chances from Manchester City’s Wilfried Bony and Kevin De Bruyne failed to mask the dominance of the La Liga side, who themselves came very close through the dangerous Yevhen Konoplyanka.
Yevhen Konoplyanka put Sevilla ahead after half an hour, but defender Adil Rami diverted Wilfried Bony's touch into the bottom corner to make it 1-1 before the break.
Sevilla had several chances to take the lead in both halves, but City grabbed a much-needed three points in stoppage time thanks to De Bruyne's fine left-footed effort into the bottom corner from just inside the area. The result leaves City in second place in Group D with six points from three games, a point behind Juventus in first place.
