Berak Adwoa Boateng Annoh ,a 11-month old baby who needs to undergo Cardiothoracic Surgery which will cost US $ 151,865.00, family has appealed to the general public to please come to their aid and help save their daughter.
In a hospital report presented by the parents from the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH), the Consultant Paediatric and Congenital Cardiologist, Dr Naa Yaa Yao, stated that the disease required cardiothoracic surgical management which was not available at the KBTH.
She said the parents needed to raise the said amount to enable them to seek treatment for the child at the Boston Children’s Hospital in the United States of America.
Dr Yao said the surgery would include services such as Cardiac Catheterisation and Cardiac surgery.
In an interview with daily graphic the parents of the girl ,Mr Emmanuel and Mrs Eunis Boateng Annoh, said they were devastated when they were told at their daughter’s birth that she had a life-threatening heart defect requiring immediate heart surgery.
Mrs Boateng Annoh explained that Berak was diagnosed of a congenital heart disease, also known as “hole in heart” when she was 7 months old.
“We humbly plead with benevolent organisations and individuals to come to the aid of Baby Berak to go through the surgery to ensure that she grows up to contribute her quota to the country,” she said.
