A 25-year-old has received cutlass wounds on his head and hands after Kenneth Kwatia popularly known as Kwame K attacked him with a machete during a misunderstanding that ensued after the district assembly election in Akuapem Abiriw in the Eastern region.
The victim, Samuel Addo was rushed to Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital for treatment but has been referred to the Koforidua regional Hospital for intensive care.
According to the victim, he went to the polling station to support his brother in-law who emerged winner in the local elections for the area.
He said a fight ensued between the suspect, Kwame K, a-30-year-old unemployed, and a friend and he decided to separate them.
He said the suspect who was not happy with his intervention later ambushed him and attacked him with a machete.
Samuel Addo went on to say that it took the intervention of his friends who rushed to the scene to take him to the hospital.
The mother of the victim, Florence Addo called on the police to expedite action on the matter.
Meanwhile, information available indicates that, the Akropong Police has granted bail to the suspect.
