Chairman of Bayern Munich Karl Rummenige has confirmed
to Bild that Carlo Ancelotti will replace Pep Guardiola as manager
at the end of the season.
It
was expected that Guardiola would announce his departure for the club this
weekend and the Bayern supremo has confirmed the much speculated news that the
former Real Madrid boss and two-time Champions League winner would take over at
the Allianz Arena.
Rummenige said he was greatful for what Guardiola
had done for the club in his tenure as manager, where he won back-to-back
titles, and hopes they can round off the season with more accolades.
"We are grateful to Pep Guardiola for these
years, and we hope that we will finish this season with many trophies."
Rumours are flying around that Guardiola's next
destination could be England, as The Daily Star reports
that Man City, Man United and Chelsea will go to war for the
signature of one of football's most coveted managers, with the club officials
of each respected team lining him up to become their new boss at the end
of the season.
German TV station ZDF, however,
has claimed his future lies with Manchester City.
Rummenige had praise for the new man coming in,
Ancelotti, and said he was anticipating a great relationship with the former
Chelsea and PSG coach with a proven track record.
"Carlo Ancelotti is a successful coach. We
look forward to working with him."
